Harbour City Dental Hygiene is pleased to offer a mobile dental hygiene service to clients who are homebound or in long term care facilities.
Registered dental hygienist Heather Cooper has been practicing dental hygiene since 1996 and has completed special training in order to acquire the licensing required by the College of Dental Hygienist of British Columbia to provide dental hygiene services in a residential care facility.
Please see under forms, all of the necessary documents to be completed to the best of your ability and include a list of all current medications. This list can usually be obtained easily from the nursing staff. If the client has a dentist on record please be sure to fill that in on the chart, as any additional dental needs may be forwarded to that dentist.
When completed, please return to our office the completed forms along with the medication list. Once our office has all forms returned, we will contact the POA or Facility to schedule an appointment.
The first visit will consist of a comprehensive new client exam. Following this appointment, our office will contact you with information regarding the oral health of the client, any recommendations for oral hygiene aids (provided at cost) and an estimate for the cost for dental hygiene treatment. We will also discuss the recommended time interval for maintenance dental hygiene appointments and complete a referral for any additional dental needs that may be required.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this program. Please feel free to contact our office at any time.
Visits to Residential Care Facilities
On your first appointment, registered dental hygienist Heather Cooper will come to your facility with mobile dental equipment for examination and diagnosis and then schedule another appointment to provide dental hygiene treatment. Following the examination appointment we will design a plan for each resident and schedule appointments as necessary. Dental hygiene services will be provided at your facility however, any further dental treatment will be scheduled outside of the facility or home at the dentist’s office.
Home Visits
Home visits can be scheduled for clients who are not able to make it into the office for appointments. Both the examination and dental hygiene services will be performed at the same visit.
